Student Resources

The Collaboration Center offers a group work space that encourages interprofessional collaboration. Located in 3124 HHB, students can utilize the space to complete group projects, host student organization meetings as well as community focused events, complete research, study for the GRE/MCAT, or just stop by between classes.

ECLIPSE
The ECLIPSE leadership team can be found in the Collaboration Center. Additionally, students from the ECLIPSE program regularly meet in the space.

Career and Life Design
The Career and Life Design Center hosts regular professional development workshops in the Collaboration Center, offering resume workshops, help with writing personal statements for graduate and medical school, and mock interviews. Occasionally employers even come to recruit for internships and job opportunities.

The Academic Success Center (ASC) is here to help you succeed academically during your time at Oakland University. BIO Learning Lounge
If you are a student at Oakland University taking any biology course, be sure to take advantage of the BIO Learning Lounge. Located in Dodge Hall, the Lounge provides access to academic resources (textbooks, online resources, etc.), homework help with a graduate assistant or peer mentors, a safe space to do homework or host study groups and more. School of Health Sciences Scholarships

Available to any student in the School of Health Sciences who meets the qualifications. Selection is competitive and based on an application process. 

Idella Hurt Busbee Memorial Book Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

• Undergraduate sophomore, junior or senior in the School of Health Science
• Student must be in good academic standing
• Established by Charlotte Busbee in memory of her mother, Idella Hurt Busbee, this scholarship is awarded annually to provide financial support for the purpose of purchasing books.

Interdisciplinary Health Sciences Scholarships

Available to students majoring in Health Sciences who meet additional qualifications. Selection is competitive and based on an application process. 

Edward Kuhn Memorial Endowed Scholarship

• Undergraduate students enrolled in Bachelor of Science Health Sciences, Applied Health Sciences, or Public Health (originally, Wellness / Health Promotion / Injury Prevention) degree programs
• Attained sophomore class standing or higher
• Demonstrate financial need
• The Edward Kuhn Memorial Scholarship is granted to an upper division undergraduate student in the Public Health (PH) or Health Sciences (HS) Programs. This scholarship is named in honor of Edward Kuhn, a health enthusiast and long-time member of the Meadow Brook Health Institute at Oakland University. The scholarship is awarded to PH or HS students who demonstrate academic promise, have contributed to university and community life and who demonstrate financial need.

Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences Scholarships

Available to students majoring in Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences, Medical Laboratory Science or Histotechnology, who meet additional qualifications. Selection is competitive and based on an application process. 

Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences (CDS) Endowed Fund

• In a School of Health Sciences in any Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences program
• An undergraduate or master’s degree student
• Involved with a professional society or student organization within the School of Health Sciences
• Have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or greater

Carl R. Vann Health Scholarship

• Be a student in the School of Health Sciences in any Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences program
• Junior or Senior in class standing
• Involved with a professional society or student organization within the School of Health Sciences
• Demonstrated a commitment to their chosen career in the health care field
• Established by Dr. Joanne Lynne Williams, professor emerita, from the School of Health Sciences to honor the memory and legacy of her colleague, Dr. Carl R. Vann. This scholarship is awarded annually to provide financial support for students pursuing a career field in the areas of clinical diagnostics sciences.

Kathleen A. Bovid Scholarship

• Must be enrolled Full-time in School of Health Sciences
• Majoring in Medical Laboratory Science or Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences
• Sophomore, Junior, or Senior standing
• Minimum OU GPA 3.0

Peggy A. Wenk Histotechnology Endowed Scholarship

• Undergraduate students majoring in Clinical and Diagnostic Sciences (originally, Biomedical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Science) within the School of Health Sciences
• Preference will be given to students accepted into the Corewell Health (formerly William Beaumont) Hospital Histotechnology program

Human Movement Science Scholarships

Available to students majoring in Exercise Science or Physical Therapy, who meet additional qualifications. Selection is competitive and based on an application process. 

Anna and Terry Dibble Exercise Science Athletic Scholarship

• Recipient must be a current Oakland University student with Sophomore, Junior, Senior, or Graduate standing
• Student must have a major in Exercise Science
• Recipient must have at least a 2.7 G.P.A. or higher.
• They must be a OU Cross Country or Track student here in Athletics
• Recipient must complete an application including three essays (300-word max each).
• Each essay should focus on answering the following three topics.  
• What has been one of your greatest achievements at OU? 
• Do you consider yourself a leader on campus? Why or why not?
• What do you hope to do with your Exercise Science degree?

Physical Therapy Scholarships

• Enrolled in Doctor of Physical Therapy program
• Enrolled full time, in good standing
• Selection are based on academic performance, the generic abilities/professional behavior, clinical education performance, professional contributions, financial need and the potential to contribute to the profession of physical therapy in addition to completing the application as directed

Mitchell Shaver Scholarship Endowment for Physical Therapy

• Second or third year student in Doctor of Physical Therapy program
• Documented membership in American Physical Therapy Association
• Interest in pursuing work related to outpatient orthopedic rehabilitation

Chris Stiller Scholarship for Physical Therapy

• Physical Therapy Major
• Documented membership in American Physical Therapy Association

Margaret J. Afheldt and Kevin A. Ball Physical Therapy Scholarship

• Returning students in Doctor of Physical Therapy program

• Students admitted or enrolled in OU’s Master of Public Health or public health combined program
• Completed Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
• United States citizen, national or permanent resident
• Demonstrate financial need
• Annually, new applicants will be preferred over past Public Health Scholarship awardees
• Award: up to $13,361.93 to cover full-time tuition for four courses in one Academic year

Idella Hurt Busbee Memorial Book Scholarship for Graduate Students

• Graduate in the Master of Public Health Program
• Established by Charlotte Busbee in memory of her mother, Idella Hurt Busbee, this scholarship is awarded annually to provide financial support for the purpose of purchasing books. 

Darryl Hill Endowed Scholarship for Environmental Health & Safety

• Undergraduate students enrolled in Environmental Health and Safety program
• Minimum 3.2 GPA
• Active membership in student chapter of American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP)

Stephen K. Hall Endowed Scholarship

• Candidates must be at least freshman or sophomore student who has declared intent to pursue a degree in Environmental Health and Safety, however a junior who is already majoring in Environmental Health and Safety may apply
• Minimum 3.3 cumulative GPA for lower undergraduates, minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA in the major for students with junior class standing
• Must be enrolled a minimum of 24 credits in the academic year for which the award is made
• Preference will be given to the candidate with the highest GPA and greatest financial need

DaimlerChrysler Diversity Scholarship for Occupational Safety and Health Endowed Scholarship

• Intention to pursue an undergraduate degree in Environmental Health and Safety (originally, Occupational Safety and Health)
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA
• Enrolled full time
• Demonstrate financial need

Frank M. Cleary Memorial Endowed Scholarship

• Award recipients must be studying environmental health and safety at the University
• Be an undergraduate or graduate student at the University
• Enrolled in two or more classes during the awarded semester
• Provide an explanation of the need for this scholarship and how it will help his or her EHS career aspirations
• Have a cumulative University GPA of 3.0 or higher
• Established by generosity of Dr. Darryl Hill, professor in the School of Health Sciences, and many other donors to honor the memory and legacy of their colleague, Frank M. Cleary who taught in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) program at Oakland University. This scholarship is awarded annually to provide financial support for students pursuing a career field in EHS.

EHS Faculty Student Scholarship Annual Award

• Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Environmental Health and Safety or a graduate degree in Safety Management
• Enrolled in two or more classes in the awarded semester
• Must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher

Safety Engineering Laboratories Endowed Scholarship

• Undergraduate students who have declared Occupational Safety and Health or Environment Health and Safety as their major, enrolled full or part-time, maintain a GPA of at least 3.0
• Graduate students who are enrolled full or part-time in the Master of Science in Safety Management program or any successor program and have a GPA of at least 3.5 in the Master's program
• Students may apply annually as long as the student continues to meet the criteria
• Candidates may be a part-time student at the time of application, but must be enrolled in at least 24 credit hours during the academic year that they receive the scholarship
• A junior who has received the scholarship may apply for renewal for their senior year provided they have maintained at least a 3.5 GPA in the major

Safety Engineering Laboratories Undergraduate Endowed Scholarship

• Undergraduate students majoring in Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Health and Safety
• Enrolled full time or part time
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA

Safety Engineering Laboratories Return to Learn Endowed Scholarship for Undergraduate Students

• New Oakland University full-time or part-time EHS undergraduate students can apply for the Safety Engineering Laboratories Endowed Scholarship award for tuition support
• Undergraduate students who have newly declared their major in the Environmental Health and Safety program; are enrolled full or part-time for the coming academic year

Safety Engineering Laboratories Graduate Endowed Scholarship

• Graduate students who are enrolled full-time or half-time in the Master of Science in Safety Management
• Minimum 3.5 cumulative GPA

Safety Engineering Laboratories Return to Learn Endowed Scholarship for Graduate Students

• New Oakland University full-time or part-time EHS graduate students can apply for the Safety Engineering Laboratories Endowed Scholarship award for tuition support.
• Graduate Students who are newly enrolled full or part-time in the Master of Science in Safety Management program or any successor program for the coming academic year.
